MindShark vs. Uptime

Uptime condenses books, courses, documentaries, and podcasts into five-minute "Knowledge Hacks" you can read, listen to, or swipe through as cards. It is a summary app with an unusually wide net.

MindShark does not summarize anything. You name a topic and it generates a Deep Dive of ten Modules, each a set of five-minute Bites that end in a quiz. Uptime is for sampling many things quickly; MindShark is for learning one thing properly.

The verdict

Uptime is a good fit if you want the gist of a documentary or course before deciding whether to commit an evening to it, and the three-format approach (text, audio, cards) is genuinely convenient.

MindShark is for after you have decided. A Deep Dive tests you and adapts; a hack does not. Note that uptime.app now redirects to an unrelated product, which does not inspire confidence in the roadmap — the learning app lives at www2.uptime.app and in the stores.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Uptime app free?

There is a free tier with limited hacks and ads. Premium is sold as an in-app purchase; the vendor does not publish the price.

Uptime vs Blinkist: which is better?

Blinkist has the larger book library and better audio; Uptime covers courses and documentaries too. Neither tests retention.

Does Uptime have quizzes?

Light ones. MindShark ends every Bite with a quiz and uses the result to choose what comes next.
